what are the requirements and restrictions for a 16 year old in florida to get a GED?
I'll be 16 years soon, I need to work to help my mother and sister, aged 11 years. My mother is willing to give me permission to leave if I get my GED. If I leave the school have my license suspended in Florida? And is it possible for a 16 years to obtain a waiver of age with no intention of going to college next year in Florida? Please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you.
Hi I have recently been in the same situation you were in Florida. I went to get my GED when I was 17 years and the requirements are to obtain the permission of a guardian, you must write an essay explaining why you dropped out of school, you will be given several forms to complete, which must then be notarized and signed. and then your text will be reviewed and you will need to be approved to be able to take the test. If you go to a school or a technical college nearby community in May, they have more information or a fee to pass the real test.
How old do you have to be to get a job in Florida?
Im almost 14 years, and when I turn 14 I was considering finding a job as a real job, and I heard that you can get a job at Publix and Dairy Queen for 14 years, in some States.
Do you guys know if I can do any actual work to 14 years in Florida?
You must be 14.
(and hours must be outside school hours)
The State of Florida establishes the following restrictions on employment:
When school is in session
The Florida law that a school day, minors under 16 may not work more than three (3) hours when school is scheduled for tomorrow and up to eight (8) hours on other days where the school does not follow. For minors 16 and 17, the qualifying hours are 30 hours per week when school is in session, eight hours per day between 6:30 am and 11 pm if school is scheduled the next day.
When school is in session
Florida law allows minors 14 and 15 to work for eight (8) hours per day, 7-9, on days when there is no school the next day and up to forty (40) per week on non -school weeks and summer vacation. For minors 16 and 17 there are no restrictions on hours worked during the school year is scheduled the following day, during holidays and summer vacations.
Minors are not allowed to work during normal school hours unless they are enrolled in a school program of work experience, education, career, or any other program when exempted by state or have received a partial waiver.
You should be able to get a job at a grocery store or fast food restaurant (like Publix or Dairy Queen) Just ask in store after turning 14, see if they hire.
I hope that helps.
